Solo Euphonium

Matthew Rowe

Matt joined the band in 2004 at the ripe old age of 9. His most memorable banding moment was finishing 3rd at Torquay at the SWBBA contest. Matt's dad, Richard is our principal cornet and his mum is the band's treasurer. Matt has played for the Camborne training band in the past when he was playing Cornet. He currently also plays Euphonium for the Cornwall Youth Brass Band. Matt's favourite test piece is Music of the Spheres and favourite concert piece is Innuendo. Matt's future plans include going to uni. to train as a teacher. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball and football.

2nd Euphonium

Jeremy Gilbert

Jeremy joined the band around 1990. He started playing at the tender age of 9 with the Penryn School Band, then progressed onto the senior wing of the band, Saracen Brass. He then moved to Redruth Town under the direction of Derek Johnson. During the day Jeremy is a Specialist Nurse at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. In his spare time he likes spending time with his wife and two sons Sam and Tom. Jeremy's favourite piece of music is Resurgam. He is presently Band Secretary, General Secretary, a Trustee of the Band and also a Life Member.

1st Baritone

Georgina Evans

Known to all as Georgie, she joined the band in September 2009. Georgie started playing cornet at the age of 5. She then switched to the finest instrument in the band, baritone, in 2008. She was a member of the National Children's Brass Band for 5 years and has just completed her second year in the National Youth Brass Band. She is preparing for her Grade 8 piano exam at present. She classes her one and only hobby as sleeping, although this has yet to become a problem in the practice room.

2nd Baritone

Paula Evans

Paula joined the band in September 2009.  She started playing the trumpet at the age of 7 under the tuition of John Ridgeon, and therefore should be a lot better than she is. Her most memorable banding moment was playing in New Zealand at the New Plymouth Tattoo and being surrounded by the (male) bands of the Army, navy and the Royal Air Force.  In her spare time she classes her hobbies as clay pigeon shooting and polishing her collection of diamonds.
