Flugel & Horns

Flugel Horn

Luke Chappell

Luke has rejoined the band after a 3 year absence. Luke is 17 years old and an apprentice electrician, which links to his ambition to set up a business of his own in the future. He has warmed many seats in the bandroom, previously playing 3rd Cornet, 2nd Cornet, Repiano, Solo Cornet, 2nd Horn and 1st Horn. He has played for St Keverne and Camborne Youth. His most memorable moment was finishing 2nd at the 1st section regional qualifiers in 2004, one year after gaining promotion from the second section. Luke has currently set up a facebook page, in which he would like some friends on, don't get your hopes up!

Solo Horn

Emily Evans

Emily is 13 years of age and joined the band along with the rest of her family in September 2009. She like her sisters started playing when she was 3 years old and learnt the piano at 7. Since 2005 she has also been a member of the National Childrens Band and in 2007 took over the position of being their solo horn player. Being a member of that band involves numerous trips around the country for both practices and concerts. In her spare time she enjoys playing netball and her ambition in life is to eat as much chocolate as she can.

1st Horn

Nicky Thomas

Nicola joined the band at the beginning of 2008 after a break of almost 15 years. She previously played for Stythians, Wendron and the Cornwall Youth Brass Band. Nicola is a hairdresser by trade and lives with her partner Paul and son Elliot. She is really enjoying being back in the banding world with the added bonus of the band socials. Nicola's hobbies include running, eating, drinking, more drinking and has previously played netball for the county.

2nd Horn

Tracey Phillips

Tracey started her Brass Banding with her sister  in Hayle Band who were then under the Musical Director Chris Harris. She then went on to follow him here to Lanner Band where she has been ever since. Her main instrument is the cornet and has played on most stands, but being multi talanted she is now sucessfully mastering the Tenor Horn.  She did in her younger days (in her own words a lifetime ago)! play for Cornwall Youth. She likes it to be known that she is only 33 and her ambitions in life is to do as little as possible and make millions. Her favourite piece of music is 'All in an April evening' which she says takes her back to her youth.
