Due to the weather The Mining Villages Festival concert by the Lanner Brass Academy and the Lanner and District Silver Band due to be held in the Gardens of the Coppice Inn this evening at 7.30 will now be held in the Village Hall.
Hi guys, Unfortunately I won't be there on Thursday night as while I've been in Sheffield my Dad has collapsed and is in hospital. I am having to help look after my mother. Hopefully he will be out before the weekend so I should be back next Monday. Eddy is going to phone Stuart to let him know and find out whether the Bass is needed - she will drop it off on Thursday if required. See you all soon - Max
Many thanks Lanner for your involvement in St Agnes Carnival on Saturday last. You did an excellent job which contributed much towards the event being a big success once again - with a great procession, big crowds and a fantastic atmosphere. Well done and hopefully you will be back again in 2011.
That's good to hear. If someone can email me details and/or pictures of any events they take part in we can include these on the news page. (email as per contacts page)
Well done!

Great weekend and gala day, can't wait for next year, already told andrew we both will be putting r names down for the olympics next year. Can't wait. Really big well done to lanner youth. You all should be really proud x
It really was a fantastic weekend. The Carnival was the best it's been in years and the Gala Day and Olympics was certainly enjoyed by all those that came along.
Although it was very much a team effort from the band and committee there are a number of individuals that I feel deserve a special thank you from all of us. So in no particular order:
- Bev and the local police for their attendance at the carnival
- Trevor Wearne (TW Builders) for the use of his lorry for the Academy float and to Andrew Eddy for driving it.
- The Lanner Methodist Church for the loan of their tables on Gala Day
- Margaret and Stan Pitt and Dave for the use of their electricity
- The Coppice Inn, Phil and Robbie for giving us the use of their music and PA system
- Richard Rowe and Shaun Jenkin for constructing and organising the Olympic events.
- Debbie Jenkin for manning the burger tent.
- Christine Rundle and Scooby for trecking round the Park all day giving the children pony rides.
- Tim Penaluna for the use of his van as required
- and finaly, Simon Wills for lending me his van for the weekend, we would have been at a loss without it and his trailer tent that now stinks of burgers!
A special mention must also go to the children of the Academy. Their performance on Sunday was superb, the result of a lot of hard work from them as well as all the tutors and Phil.
Well done to all in the band this weekend. It was great seeing everyone getting their hands dirty and mucking in. Special thanks to Lee for all his efforts in sorting the Acadamy on the carnival float and printing off so many posters that HE FORGOT to actually put up on the day.
Well done to everyone for their hard work in making yesterday a brilliant day, it definitely needs to become an annual event! Also well played to all in the Academy - keep up the good work.
Sorry i missed the carnival and the academy first concert im sure someone will put some pictures on the gallery shortly - please !! PS Well done for a really well organized event yesterday - is this going to be an annual event now ??
Well done to the junior band as well on your first outing.
Thanks to Lee, Richard and everyone who helped organise yesterday. It was a really good day. (especially watching Shaun fall off the greasy pole - again and again!)
Hi all, well done for today, was a great laugh and a great idea that came off! Well done to all involved to make it a good day!
