Date: 19 Nov 2009 10:23PM    Sender: Why Does Tellam Play Drums?

The reason Andrew Tellam plays persussion is because when he played cornet in the school band we all had to wear life jackets cos every time he blew out his water he flooded our little band room - good to see old tel back in the banding world.

Any one know why shaun is sending us old jokes which he sent to us about 2 months ago. Looks like his job is keeping him up all night and he has amnesia the day after.

I would just like to say a big thank you to the village of Lanner for the support on Saturday for the Band's carnival. Despite having to reschedule due to bad weather earlier in the year it was fantastic to see the enthusiasm reenacted at the weekend.

A full write up will appear on the news page within the next few days.

In addition I would like to thank Christine Gilbert, Vice Chairman, for her substantial contribution during the day and to Jeremy, band secretary for his efforts in reorganising the event.

I must also thank Pat Williams who provided the initial music for ‘Lanner Celebrates’. This was then arranged for brass by the band’s solo trombone player, Gareth Cottrell and was very well received when premiered by the band in the square on the day.

There are not many, if any, bands that are responsible for the village carnival but in Lanner we are proud to be able to do this… and long may it continue.

If anyone has any ideas on how we as a community can improve our annual carnival then please drop me an email with your suggestions. lee@enactenergy.com and we will do what we can to accommodate any suggestions.

Wouldn’t be right if the Chairman didn’t close with an advert… 26th September sees the Band bring the Last Night of the Proms to Truro’s Victoria Gardens, and it’s for free;
The concert will be jam-packed with some of the best loved music interspersed with popular classics and fun music for a summer’s evening. The singing in the traditional ‘Last Night’ items will be lead by Sue Lancaster.

It’s going to be a fantastic night; the programme has been chosen to appeal to all ages. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic, and of course a flag! The emphasis is on having fun and enjoying some first class music.

Hope to see you there.

Lee
