Lanner Band at the Acorn!

Lanner and District Silver Band are proud to be bringing their unique sound to the Acorn Theatre, with a concert full of musical delights including original pieces accompanied by a guest soprano singer.

The Band will start the concert with the bands signature march “The Lanner Falcon” by Cornish banding composer, the late Goff Richards. Goff Richard’s well-loved music will be featured again in the concert when the band play “Calling Cornwall”.

The band will also feature an original piece, composed by their resident composer Andrew Baker. Inspired by an Arthurian Legend, “The Once and Future King” is an emotive and bold composition.

There will also be a performance of the thought provoking hymn Eternal Father featuring our guest soloist for the night, internationally acclaimed Soprano, Maria Heseltine. With members of the RNLI and National Coastguard being present at the concert this performance will be dedicated to all Mariners, particularly those lost at sea.

Maria will also be singing alongside other pieces including Riverdance and the “Armed Man, A Mass for Peace”, by Karl Jenkins. The brass band version of this piece is powerful and dramatic and will steal the show.

There will be many more musical gems, covering lots of different genres to listen to at this exciting concert, quite possibly some of your favourites. The concert will start at 7:30pm at The Acorn, Penzance on Thursday 31st May
