EEb Bass – Matthew Nix
Matt has been playing for 13 years. He joined the academy in 2010, and has been with the organisation since.
Matt joined the senior band in June of 2021, but played carols with the band between 2014 and 2016. In the same years, he played with the Cornwall Youth Brass Band where he worked with many great musicians such as Phillip Harper, Les Neish and Tom Davoran to name a few. He was taught by Phil Matthews, as many of the bands younger members were.
Matt’s favourite banding memory was playing with CYBB at Prince Charles and Camilla’s visit to Padstow in 2015.
Outside of band he enjoys gardening, and works as a Groundsman at a local golf club.
