Proms in the Park under the Moonlight!

The Band’s inaugural Proms in the Park held on Saturday 14th September 2019 was a great success. As well as being treated to the early evening sunshine and a spectacular full moon the audience enjoyed a fantastic night of music.

The evening was kicked off with The Lanner Brass Academy performing their award winning set from their recent success at the Exmouth Entertainment Contest.

The Lanner and District Silver Band then took to the stage under their Musical Director, Aaron Harvey with crowd pleasing favourites including the likes of ‘Let Me Entertain You’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Angels’… good job the audience were in fine voice!

The second half was introduced with a flyover from a Lancaster Bomber and the classic ‘Dambusters’ started the traditional Last Night of the Proms. The fabulous Alison Harvey was welcomed to the stage to lead the singing of Rule Britannia and Jerusalem. No proms would be complete with ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ where again Alison took to stage for ‘Land of Hope and Glory’.

After rapturous applause the band encored with the ‘Radetzky March’.

The President of the Band, Leon Youlton commented “It was so good to see the village alive with people enjoying themselves, we’ve had learnings from this years event so can make things even better for next year and for the years to come”.
