1st Trombone

Gareth Cottrell

Gareth joined the band in 2006, following time playing with Falmouth Town, Stythians and Camborne Town Bands. His most memorable banding moment was playing in the National Finals at the Albert Hall in London. His favourite piece of music is "Jazz "by Philip Wilby. Gareth works for the NHS and during his spare time also plays in the Nighthawks and Cornwall All Stars Big Bands. When time allows (!) he also enjoys playing golf.

2nd Trombone

Alan Caddy

Alan started playing Trombone at the age of 13 in Camborne School and after being taught by Albert Chappell he then progressed to Redruth Junior Band before leaving to join the Camborne Senior Band. He has played in a number of bands over the years with the main two being Camborne Band under Musical Director Steve Sykes and Bodmin Band under Musical Director Leonard Adams. His favourite piece of music is Life Divine. Alan's most memorable moment was playing at The Royal Albert Hall, London with Bodmin Band, achieving 7th position in the Championship Section. Outside of Banding he enjoys both motorbikes which he rides most Sundays weather permitting and flying model aircraft when he has the time. Alan works in Construction as a general builder, and has done since leaving school.

Bass Trombone

Peter Holmes

Peter began playing percussion with Selkirk Silver Band at the age of 12 before moving on to play Bass Trombone for the Jedforest Instrumental Band. After a period of 9 months he decided to return to Selkirk and with them has had the opportunity to play alongside some of Scotland’s Brass Band icons. He is currently studying music at University College Falmouth after completing his HND in Classical Music at the Stevenson College in Edinburgh in 2009. Outside of music Peter has competed at a national level in Hammer Throwing and has won several medals including a bronze at the British Championships, he was unbeaten for 4 years in the Scottish Schools and also captained them at an international level and still holds several records. He also enjoys cars and playing video games.
