1. Solo Euphonium – Steve Coad

Steve joined the band in 2012, plays Solo Euphonium and is our Bandmaster. He started playing in 1972; following a playing career as an army bandsman he joined a local band, Carharrack and St Day where he met his wife Karen.

After a long break from playing he was persuaded to take it up again a few years ago. He works as an Instrument store manager for the Cornwall Music Education Hub so is surrounded by all sorts of instruments every day!

He is very pleased to be in the band with Karen, her sister Tania and former Army colleagues Shaun and Kenwyn.

  2. 2nd Euphonium – John Woodrow

Started playing Cornet and Trumpet from age of 7, moving onto Euphonium age 13, whilst also playing Piano, Trombone and Percussion in local orchestras, wind and brass bands around North London. Joined Royal Marines Band Service on Euphonium and Cello age 16, and was privileged to play throughout the UK, Europe and in the USA, during this time.

Brass band career has included playing at the Nationals Finals in every Section including Championship Section at The Royal Albert Hall, under conductors such as Don Morrison, Melvin White, Nigel Taken and Richard Evans. Since moving to Cornwall 10 years ago has played with and conducted Pendennis Brass Falmouth and joined Lanner & District during 2017 on his favoured seat of 2nd Euphonium.

For the past 20 years John has worked in Finance and is currently an Account Manager for Svenska Handelsbanken based in the Truro office.
